Khalil’s Campaigns
At the last General Election, with Khalil Yousuf we came within just 1,349 votes of victory, one of the closest results anywhere in England.
In a brand-new constituency, with no sitting MP, our team turned Farnham & Bordon into a genuine Liberal Democrat battleground and a top tier target seat for the first time.
Khalil kept his promises in the last selection.
In just five months, he raised over £50,000, built a team of more than 200 volunteers, and together we delivered 200,000 pieces of literature, and knocked on 11,000 doors. It was an extraordinary achievement, powered by energy, professionalism and belief in what can be done when people pull together.
That near-miss was a springboard. It proved that with the right candidate, campaign plan and resources, we can win here. Khalil has shown he can inspire supporters, lead teams, and organise a first-class local operation from scratch.
Khalil’s Record of Action for Our Communities
Protecting Our NHS
Khalil has worked tirelessly to improve access to local healthcare. He met with dentists, GPs, Sir David Haslam (former Head of the Royal College of GPs), and former Chair of the National Institute of Clinical Excellence to tackle the shortage of NHS provision. Khalil analysed dental contracts and developed a concrete plan with local ICBs to increase the number of GPs and dentists serving our communities.
Taking on Sewage Dumping and Protecting our Environment
When residents reported children falling ill after swimming in Frensham, Khalil took immediate action—engaging directly with Ofwat and the Environment Agency, who are now investigating. He has worked closely with the Rivers Trust, Water Rangers, local landowners, and anglers’ groups to hold water companies to account and push for clean, safe rivers.
Supporting Local Food Banks
While others were celebrating election results, Khalil was delivering food to Bordon Food Bank. Since 2020, he and his volunteers have supported food banks in Bordon, Headley Down, and Farnham—donating over 1,000 kg of food in 2023 alone. Khalil remains committed to standing with families who need help most.
Fighting for Better SEND Support
Khalil has listened to parents and teachers share their struggles with inadequate SEND support, delayed diagnoses, and unfair EHCP processes. He has met with the heads of Moor House, Hollywater, Badshot Lea Infants, William Cobbett, and Highfield South Farnham Schools, as well as countless parents, to push for fair funding and better provision—especially for girls. Khalil will continue this fight until every child receives the support they deserve.

Fighting for Better SEND Support
Khalil has seen firsthand the impact of overdevelopment without proper infrastructure. After meeting WBRC and touring the Bordon development, he raised serious concerns about the lack of NHS dentists, GPs, pharmacies, buses, schools, and leisure facilities. He is determined to ensure that planning decisions put residents first, not developers.
Tackling Crime and Shoplifting
Shoplifting and anti-social behaviour have affected small businesses and families across Haslemere, Farnham, and beyond. Khalil has met with local shop owners, business associations, and the police to demand stronger action and accountability. He has also helped reconnect local police with Youth Centres to improve community relationships and safety.

Fighting for Better Bus Services
Khalil has been a strong voice for improving public transport in Bordon, Liphook, and Headley Down. He pressed Hampshire County Council repeatedly to discuss bus services, though they refused to meet. Meanwhile, WBRC confirmed £500,000 has been allocated for transport, and Khalil will ensure that promise is delivered now the election period has ended.
Saving the Future Skills Centre
When the Future Skills Centre was threatened with closure, Khalil fought to save it—negotiating eight new apprenticeships and holding regular meetings with BCoT leadership to explore rent reductions and alternatives. He continues to push for a permanent replacement to protect local skills and training opportunities for young people.
Backing Our Youth Centres
Khalil has supported Youth Centres in Farnham and Bordon, helping them strengthen partnerships with local police to engage positively with young people. This initiative, developed with Mat Brown’s support, has already improved local trust and community cohesion. Khalil remains committed to expanding youth services across the constituency.
Championing Local Charities
Khalil has helped raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for local causes. He co-organised a charity walk in Bordon that raised £20,000 for over 20 British charities, and another in Tilford that raised £210,000. His next community fundraising event in Bordon is planned for October this year.
Standing Up for the Vulnerable
Khalil has provided direct support to some of the most vulnerable people in the community. When a homeless resident in Farnham needed urgent accommodation, he intervened with Citizens Advice to secure housing. When a disabled woman’s home was destroyed in an accident, Khalil helped her find suitable accommodation for her needs. His compassion is matched by his determination to act.
